Anne and I took our first ever 3 month sabbatical in the summer of 2015, and one of the things the Holy Spirit led me to do early on was to search for and record the following scriptures as a reminder (to be read over regularly) of His many invitations to me to drink deeply of His endless river of delights; and of the examples of those who did so and how that went down for them.
When you catch yourself feeling dry, perhaps this little tool can help remind you to not waste your life on things that don’t satisfy, and instead to come to Him who wants to fill us with all of His fullness!
God’s Invitations, Declarations & Promises: Psalm 81:13-16 “Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would quickly subdue their enemies And turn My hand against their adversaries. Those who hate the Lord would pretend obedience to Him, And their time of punishment would be forever. But I would feed you with the finest of the wheat, And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
Isaiah 55:1-3 “Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me.
