I’ve written several posts about God’s love for and commitment to Israel such as this one: https://www.kingdomstreams.net/post/is-god-done-with-israel. But what I want to make clear with the following scriptures is that God has always purposed – first through Israel – and now through the church and still through Israel – to make Himself known to all the peoples of the earth.
There are many more scriptures that speak to this than these in the Old Testament. But these are some of my favorites and some of the more clear ones. May the Holy Spirit give all of us who know and love our Savior His heart for all of the peoples of the earth and His resolve/passion to see the remaining unreached peoples come to know Him.
Gen. 12:3 – God’s promise and purpose to Abraham - “….And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
Leviticus 19:33,34 – The Law of God re: foreigners/aliens - “When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 10:18, 19 – God’s heart for the foreigners/aliens - “He executes justice for the orphan and the widow and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”
Joshua 4:23,24 - Joshua to the people of Israel - “For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed, just as the Lord your God had done to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed; that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, so that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
I Samuel 17:46 – David to Goliath - “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,”
II Chronicles 6:32-33 - King Solomon in his prayer of dedication for the temple - “Also concerning the foreigner who is not from Your people Israel, when he comes from a far country for Your great name’s sake and Your mighty hand and Your outstretched arm, when they come and pray toward this house, then hear from heaven, from Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name, and fear You as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by Your name.”
Psalm 67:7 - Declaration of Anonymous Psalmist - “God blesses us that all the nations of the earth may fear Him.”
Isaiah 49:6 - God to Jesus - “He says, “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
Jonah 4:11 - God to Jonah re: His compassion for Nineveh - “Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,00 persons who do not know the difference between their right and left hand, as well as many animals?”
