Holy, holiness in the New Testament re: apostles and prophets

Updated: Oct 5

When Jesus calls prophets and apostles to walk with Him and serve Him, He immediately sets out to make them holy as He is holy. He wants us to know they were holy men. He would not and could not have used them like He did unless they were holy. We owe much to their willingness to be made holy. What was true then is true today.

Mar 6:20 "for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; but he used to enjoy listening to him."

Luke 1:70, "As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old -- ... "

Acts 3:21 "whom heaven must receive until [the] period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time."

Eph 3:5 "which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;"

2Pe 3:2 "that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles."
