(This is a lesson I taught our World Changers & Giant Slayers classes on 10/29/23)
What is secularism/humanism?
So is there a person on the earth who sincerely does not believe there is a God?
“…that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.” Rom. 1:19
So if everyone knows God is, why do they speak and act and live as if He isn’t?
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,” Romans 1:18 (we explored the concept of “suppressing the truth”)
Who first thought of this? Who invented this thinking?
“He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
“in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…” II Cor. 4:4
What do disciples of Jesus Christ believe re: things that come from God or that only God gives:
Breath – Act 17:25 - “nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;”
Life – Act 17:25 - “nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;”
Food for Animals – Psalm 147:9 - “He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens which cry.”
Food for Humans – Psalm 145:15,16 “The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.”
Rain – Psalm 147:8 “Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, …”
Every good thing - James 1:17 “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”
So what should our response be to such a God?
