A Wife’s Job Description Prayer Tool

Dear Wives: First may I humbly say that I have prayed through my "husband's job description prayer tool" most every day since I devised it and posted it on 4/3/18. How I wish I had started the practice sooner! I would never put a post like this one up had I not. Second, this tool is designed for wives who know and walk with Jesus, who know He is good, and who know "His ways and thoughts are higher than the heavens above the earth than ours" (Isa. 55:8,9). Third, I would highly encourage you to be familiar with the context of each of these passages, so that you can have God's heart behind your "job description". May this simple tool be one of many that the Holy Spirit uses to help you be the wife God has lovingly called you to be.

1. “She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.” – Prov. 31:10-12 (through vs. 27 about wives)

Prayer: Father, please show me how and motivate me to do good for my husband all the days of my life.

2. She must fulfill her sexual duty to her husband unless she and he are in agreement re: the need to devote themselves to prayer for a season and thus abstain. (I Cor. 7:3,5)

Prayer: Father, please help me to gladly fulfill my role sexually with my husband.

3. She must please her husband “…how she may please her husband” (I Corinthians 7:34)

Prayer: Father, please help me to gladly please and serve my husband in practical ways.

4. She must be subject to or submit to her husband “Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.” Eph. 5:22; “…so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” Eph. 5:24; “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.” Col. 3:18; “…being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” Titus 2:5; “In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that…” I Peter 3:1,2,5 Prayer: Father, please help me live in subjection to and interdependence with my husband.

5. She must respect her husband “….and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.” Eph. 5:33

Father, please help me respect my husband at all times.

6. She must love her husband “so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands,…” Titus 2:4

Father, please help me to love my husband with Your love.

7. She must pursue inner godliness, not just outer beauty as she relates to her husband – following the example of godly women of old “Your adornment must…..be the hidden person of the heart,…” I Peter 3:3-6

Father, please help me make my own personal growth in godliness an ever greater priority.
