Looking to God, not man, for Deliverance, Protection and Victory

I want to say at the beginning of this post, I do not have a problem with the military actions Israel has taken of late towards its sworn enemies, whether it be the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas or Iran. Having just learned (yesterday) of America’s military attacks of three of Iran’s nuclear facilities, and having been reminded just (yesterday) morning of all of Iran’s attacks of American’s citizens and soldiers over the last five or more decades, I want to also affirm that I have no problem with President Trump and his advisors’ decision to carry out these attacks.
But perhaps this would be an appropriate time to remind ourselves (especially those in Israel and America) of a truth that occurs repeatedly in the Psalms and the Prophets and that is that it is a grave mistake to put our hope and trust and security in government and/or military leaders and military might. It is a grave mistake because it sets us up for misguided confidence in such; and it is an afront to Almighty God who alone raises up and puts down rulers, and who gives us our very breath, not to mention our abilities to fight wars and carry out military actions.
May I encourage especially our brothers and sisters in the Lord in Israel and in the U.S.A. to meditate on the Scriptures below; and to devote ourselves to prayer as never before as there is much going on in the heavenly unseen realm that we will not see aright unless we walk in daily dependence upon the Holy Spirit and listen to His prophets and prophetesses who do the same.
Psalm 44:2-7 “You with Your own hand drove out the nations; They You planted them; You afflicted the peoples, Then You spread them abroad. For by their own sword they did not possess the land, And their own arm did not save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence For You favored them. You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. Through You we will push back our adversaries; Through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, Nor will my sword save me. But You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those who hate us.”
Psalm 127:1 “…Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.”
Psalm 146:3-6 “Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever;”
Psalm 147:10,11 “He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His lovingkindness.”
Isaiah 31:1 “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!
Jeremiah 17:5,7 “Thus says the Lord, Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the Lord….Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose trust is the Lord.”
May every nation and people on the planet long for God's blessing and learn to trust Him for it - looking only to Him for the things only He can provide and do for us.
